Do you need to have your owned books out where you can see them, or are you okay with them being stored away?

I absolutely loved to see my books but tbere are times where its just not possible. Space is a very big issues with me. I think between the bookish people currently living in the house I don't know which one has more books or who takes up more space. I have books on my small bookshelf filled to the brim, on my work desk, under my bed, in the garage, in the small office area, even on my bed!

As you can see I really am running out of room for books. I do plan in the future when I move to have my own cozy room only for reading, my books, the internet, and some other crafts. But till then I am just going to have to manage.

I put books all around my house in the order that I read. Books I am currently reading are on my bed or near it, Books that are my favorite are on my bookshelf. College books are on my personal desk. All other books are everywhere else.

Musing Mondays: July 18

This week’s musing asks…

What is the last book you struggled to read through to the end, even though you weren’t really enjoying it? What made you keep reading?

The last book I read that I struggled with would have to be Shiver by Maggie Steifvater. Originally I had heard of great reviews on the series and heard that Forever was coming out July 12th and wanted to read it in time for its release. By the reviews of other fellow bloggers on Amazon and Goodreads, Shiver was an amazing book.

I started to read Shiver and I immediately didn't like it. I was never a reader that liked to switch from pov ( point of view) in a story because for me personally, it made the story seem to  cause slight dizziness ,switching from person to person. I personally preferred you stick with one heroine in a story ,  see it from her point of view all the way through , and see it from her eyes. Another thing that also got to me at first was how short the chapters were. I know I know that is how some chapters from book are but it was weird for me at first. Another thing that really got to my was the sappy romance at the time. I dont know if I was being pessimistic, but  the sappy kissing really got to my head and *shudders* made me sick to my stomach.  I felt at first the story had no real substance to it and was just another one of those "teen romance" stories. 

I still trudged on. Everyone said it was amazing and I was waiting for the "greatness" to come. It didn't kick in till the middle of story though.  It took me a whole month to finish the book. That is when I realized all my  dislikes actually became "likes" in the aspect that everything tied in with the story. It was like a light-bulb went off in my head. All the so called "sappy romance" went away and the true story came alive for me . 

Now I can't stop raving about Shiver, Linger, and Forever. My current favorite mythical beings would have to be wolves right now. I guess why I found it difficult to read was because it was a new experience for me and I was not used to it. I am personally glad I finished the book or I would have never knew such a great series or such a great author. 

Some books you can read and some you can't. Its all up to you. Maybe you will find trash or you might just find a rare gem that you will carry in your innermost thoughts for the rest of your life.

Musing Mondays-July 11

This week’s musing asks…

Do you think it makes you NOT (or less) “well-read” if there are certain genres that you won’t read because you KNOW you won’t enjoy them? Why?

"Well-Read" in accordance to freedictionary.com, is being  having read widely and intelligently; erudite ( "erudite" at least I know where that term came from in Divergent...). It doesn't mean that I as a reader, or any of our population, needs to stereotype a certain genre to be considered "well-read". I don't have to necessarily read all the works of Shakespeare and give a literary critique review to sound intelligent and to be considered well read.

My  love of books span different types of genre. I love YA ( and the community here) , fantasy, historical romance, adventure, and actually just realized I like modern fiction as well ( surprise surprise). I think I read mostly based on my mood . Its like when you pick out what you want to eat for dinner and just say I don't feel like having steak for dinner "Can I have a Caeser Salad instead?". Yes as I type this I am very hungry,

Ooh Yummy food.!!!

Despite the fact of how I choose my books is similar to how I order my dinner, I still consider myself "well-read".  It does not have to be a certain genre that you read that makes you sound intelligent. Its really comes up to you , as the reader in the end. What did you actually feel from the book after reading it? Where you full? Or did you think the book need something extra ? Like spice or pepper? Was it good? Did it leave a good impression?

If you can answer yes to all of these you can gladly consider self "well-read" and as well as "well-fed".

This week’s musing asks…

Do you like movies made from books? Which ones do you think have been done well — kept mostly to the plot of the book, etc?

Some of my favorite books such as Eragon, Harry Potter, Ink heart have been made into movie is not necessary that they stick to the story line. I think if the movie can portray or even hint at the books intended meaning then its an ok movie for me. There is only so much you can fit into a 2 hour movie!

I think one of my favorite movies of all time (besides Harry Potter & Twilight) has to be the Golden Compass. I absolutely adored this movie and thought it came out better than the book. It really brought my imagination and I loved all the special a effects added in. It wasn't to pushy and didn't make me cringe. 

Another one I felt was better as a movie was "The Girl with A Dragon Tattoo" . Personally for me the book made me yack. For me it was completely utterly boring. I really couldn't figure out if it was the writing style or the lack of proper translation to get the feeling across. But then again I was never the one for this type of genre.

That is what I like about books made into movies it brings our imagination to a whole new level, into a more visual sense of being. I admit some books into movies suck but thats another meme for another Monday.
